Kentucky residents involved in motor vehicle accident

Police say that a 2015 Freightliner driven by a 57-year-old man flipped over in the median of US Route 25 eastbound in Knox County. Debris from the collision struck a 2010 Buick being driven by a 31-year old man. The crash occurred at about 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 20, and authorities say that everyone was wearing a seat belt when it took place.

Authorities said that a 46-year-old passenger in the truck had to be treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. The same was true for a 21-year-old passenger in the Buick. There was no word if the driver of the truck was impaired or if bad road conditions may have played a role in the crash.

Those who suffer injuries in a car accident may be entitled to compensation. This may be true if the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was negligent in causing the accident to happen. If the vehicle that caused an accident was a company vehicle, the employer may also be liable for medical bills or other costs incurred by an injured victim in a commercial vehicle accident. An attorney may be able to prove that a driver was negligent or that an employer may also be responsible for paying damages.

A lawyer can prove negligence by showing the conclusions of any police officers present at the scene of the crash. Text or phone records may show that an individual was using his or her cell phone prior to the crash. In some cases, a driver may acknowledge that he or she was going above the speed limit or otherwise driving too fast for road conditions in a statement. If negligence can be shown, an individual may be entitled to reimbursement for lost wages and future earnings and medical bills.
