4 high school students injured after car hits tree

Four Kentucky high school students were injured in a one-car accident on Nov. 3. The incident took place in Louisville at about 2:45 p.m. while the students were on their way home from Fairdale High School. A spokesman for the Louisville Metro Police Department said that the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree.

Police believe that the driver may have been speeding before losing control and running off of Fox Avenue. However, the cause of the accident is still under investigation by the LMPD Traffic Unit. Investigations into similar car accidents generally take a number of weeks to complete.

After the car collided with a tree, two of the passengers were ejected, and the driver was trapped inside. Two passengers and the driver were treated for life-threatening injuries at University Hospital, and the third passenger was treated for minor injuries at Norton Children's Hospital. According to reports, the accident took place less than two miles away from the high school. School had been dismissed about 25 minutes before the accident.

A passenger who was injured in a one-car accident can pursue financial compensation by filing a personal injury claim against the driver's insurance provider. To claim the maximum amount of damages, an injured victim may want to work with an attorney to assess the complete financial impact of the injuries. Many victims seek lost wages, medical expenses and loss of future earning capacity.
