Researchers found that motorists who slept for only four or five hours are involved in accidents about four times as often as fully rested drivers. Even drivers who have gotten five or six hours of sleep crash about twice as often.

Kentucky is not among the top 10 most dangerous states to drive in, according to a study based on 2014 crash statistics. However, people who live in rural areas of the state may want to be aware that rural roads are more dangerous than roads in heavily populated areas. Four high school students in Kentucky were injured in a car accident on Nov. 3. The four boys were all students at Fairdale High School in Louisville, and three of the boys played on the school's soccer team. Two of the boys were being treated at the intensive care unit of the University of Louisville Hospital after the accident.

4 high school students injured after car hits tree

Four Kentucky high school students were injured in a one-car accident on Nov. 3. The incident took place in Louisville at about 2:45 p.m. while the students were on their way home from Fairdale High School. A spokesman for the Louisville Metro Police Department said that the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree.

Aggressive driving behaviors that lead to fatal accidents

Aggressive drivers cause serious car accidents in Kentucky far too frequently. According to a study by the American Automobile Association, 56 percent of the fatal automobile accidents that took place between 2003 and 2007 around the country involved some kind of aggressive driving behavior. The data that was used for the study came from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Fatal Accident Report System.
