3-car accident leaves multiple people injured

On Sept. 25, a motor vehicle accident in Kentucky left several people with injuries. The crash took place on Highway 56 in Webster County at about 8 p.m.

The Sebree Police Chief reported that one of the three vehicles involved, a minivan, collided head on with a truck. A sedan then struck the two vehicles. All four individuals who were in the minivan, three of whom were children, were taken to hospitals in the area. The truck driver also was transported to a hospital after emergency rescue crews cut him out of his vehicle. The person who was in the sedan appeared to be uninjured. Local police authorities were investigating the accident.

Although the cause had not yet been determined, many motor vehicle accidents are the result of a negligent driver. Examples of negligence can include texting or otherwise using a cellphone while behind the wheel, driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, speeding, and driving while sleep-deprived. Other such accidents can be attributed to poor road or vehicle maintenance or a defective auto part.

People who are injured in a motor vehicle accident often face the need for extensive and costly medical care and treatment. In many cases, their financial condition is further worsened by the loss of wages due to an inability to return to work for prolonged periods. People who find themselves in this position may want to meet with a personal injury attorney as soon as possible. The attorney could use the police investigation report, eyewitness testimony and other evidence in an attempt to ascertain the party or parties that should bear the financial responsibility for those and other losses.
